Dear Friends,

It has been my pleasure to serve as IUSD Trustee for the past 8 years.  As a thirty-year resident of Irvine, I love our community and value our exceptional schools. Nationally recognized for educational excellence, our schools are a principal reason people choose to live here. 

As President of IUSD, I am responsible for guiding the district through the current statewide recession.  I am proud to report that we have a balanced budget with intact reserves.

On behalf of our over 26,000 students, I work diligently at the local, county and state levels to promote fiscal responsibility, academic excellence, and local control of our education tax dollars.

Working in tandem with outstanding staff and the community, IUSD continues to be an enviable model for the nation.  In the midst of California’s worse downturn, our students are thriving.  We continue to accomplish much, including:

• The highest district-wide Academic Performance in the county
• Our high schools are ranked among the nation’s best by Newsweek magazine
• Nationally awarded fine arts programs
• IUSD is ranked 10 out of 10 by “GreatSchools”
• SAT scores that consistently rank among the highest in the state        

Providing the highest quality education for Irvine’s students is my passion.  At this critical time, Irvine needs my leadership and experience more than ever.
